Disability Equality

This Strategy will provide guidance and advice to local responders and all those engaged in emergency planning, to ensure that deaf and disabled people are included within planning processes and that disability equality issues are considered.

Disability Equality in Emergency Planning

This Strategy is specifically concerned with considering the implications of the Disability Discrimination Act 2005 in the context of multi-agency, strategic emergency planning.

The Partnership has addressed the need to incorporate disability equality issues in emergency planning through establishing the London Disability Advisory Group.

The Strategy document defines a common Partnership approach towards fulfilling the duty to promote disability equality in regional emergency planning.

Representatives from disability organisations (see further resources) provided advice on the key themes that need to be considered at every stage of the planning process, both at the regional and the local level, which have been outlined in the Strategy document.
