The London Strategic Flood Framework
The London Strategic Flood Framework is to ensure a coordinated response, which will protect life and well-being with mitigation of property and environmental damage. Thefocus is ontidal flooding from the River Thames, fluvial flooding from tributaries that flow into the River Thamesand surface water flooding resulting from excessive rainfall.
The Framework provides direction to responders, before, during and after a significant flooding incident in London. It clearly identifies triggers and mechanisms for declaring a major incident and also provides assistance to decision making by highlighting areas at risk of flooding in London. The London Strategic Flood Framework consists of a regional framework providing guidance to sub regional emergency planners for the development of sub regional multi agency flood plans and a regional multi agency response plan for a significant flood in London. The Framework will sitalongside the sub regional multi agency flood plans being developed forthe 32 London Local authorities and the City of London. The Framework and sub regional multi agency flood plans provide direction to responders, before, during and after a significant flooding incident in London the necessary links to existing plans and procedures clearly identify triggers and mechanisms for declaring a major incident assistance to decision making by highlighting areas at risk of flooding in London clarity forroles and responsibilities of all responders and the actions they are required to take .
