Recovery management
Recovery is an integral part of the emergency management process. It can be defined as, The process of rebuilding, restoring and rehabilitating the community following an emergency. This process is distinct from, but will usually overlap with, the Response phase which can be defined as the actions taken to deal with the immediate effects of an emergency.
Regional recovery coordination is performed by the multi-agency Recovery Coordination Group made up of senior representatives from relevant agencies and chaired by a Local Authority Chief Executive.
The Protocol component of these arrangements is in two parts:
- Protocol Part A deals with the arrangements for recovery management during the response phase
- Protocol Part B deals with the arrangements for recovery management once primacy has been passed to the Recovery Coordination Group
